Mazda MX-5 Miata ND 30th Anniversary Edition SKYACTIV-G 1.5 in 2019
The Japanese 1.5-litre anniversary soft-top had April 2019 reservations and production scheduled for that month; delivery dates remain unverified.
2019 Japanese-market specification
This calendar-year entry covers the Japanese Roadster 30th Anniversary soft-top beneath the SKYACTIV-G 1.5 engine record. Mazda specified the RS-based car with SKYACTIV-G 1.5, rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox. The Japanese RF used SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and belongs outside this engine branch. These specifications do not describe every export-market anniversary car. See Mazda’s Japanese announcement.
Reservations and announced production
Mazda’s 25 March 2019 announcement scheduled soft-top reservation applications for 5–15 April and production for April. Successful applicants still needed a dealership contract. These are announced arrangements, not independently verified build or delivery dates.
The initial Japanese allocation was 150 cars across both roof types, subject to adjustment; it is not a production total for the 1.5-litre soft-top. The announcement does not establish this edition’s assembly location or production end date. Source: Japanese launch announcement.
Anniversary identity and historical context
The 30th Anniversary Edition commemorated three decades of the MX-5. Mazda presented the edition at the February 2019 Chicago Auto Show and announced a worldwide limit of 3,000 cars across soft-top and retractable-hardtop versions. That worldwide limit must not be interpreted as the number of Japanese 1.5-litre cars built.
Its identity centred on Racing Orange paint, specially developed RAYS ZE40 RS30 forged wheels and a numbered anniversary badge. Recaro seats, orange interior accents, Brembo front calipers and Nissin rear calipers formed part of the anniversary equipment; Bilstein dampers were specified for manual-transmission cars. The Japanese announcement also lists these features for its domestic edition.
Historically, this entry records the Japanese 1.5-litre branch of an international anniversary programme within the ND generation. The anniversary designation identifies a special edition rather than a separate generation. Source: Mazda’s global unveiling announcement.
