Mazda RX-8 Original Generation Sport Prestige Limited Twin-Rotor Engine in 2004

A calendar-year record of the Sport Prestige Limited's November 2004 Japanese launch. Its production end date remains unconfirmed.

November 2004 launch

Mazda put the RX-8 Sport Prestige Limited on sale in Japan on 24 November 2004 through Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealerships. Two configurations were announced: Type S with a six-speed manual and Type E with a four-speed Activematic automatic. These are distinct configurations within the special edition, not interchangeable specifications. Mazda’s launch announcement.

This calendar-year entry belongs beneath the Sport Prestige Limited twin-rotor engine record. The date establishes a Japanese sales launch, not a worldwide model-year designation or a verified first assembly date.

Place in the RX-8 chronology

Mazda’s corporate chronology records RX-8 production beginning in February 2003 and the model’s release in April 2003. It describes a four-door, four-seat sports car powered by the RENESIS rotary engine. The 2004 special edition therefore followed the model’s initial introduction; it did not mark the beginning of RX-8 production. Mazda’s 2000–2004 history.

The site’s hierarchy places this record within the original RX-8 generation, under the Sport Prestige Limited variant and its engine record. The separately catalogued Sport Prestige Limited II entry for 2005 should not be used to supply specifications for this 2004 launch.

Equipment at introduction

The package combined beige leather upholstery and exclusive exterior finishes with suspension tuning and body reinforcements. Eighteen-inch wheels also equipped the Type E-based version; they were already standard on Type S. These documented chassis changes show that the edition extended beyond cosmetic trim. Dating and evidence limits

The launch release does not establish an assembly plant, production total or production end date for this edition. Accordingly, 2004 is a documented launch year rather than a claimed complete production period. Launch documentation.
