Mazda RX-8 Original Generation True Red Style 1308 cc in 2006

True Red Style joined Japan’s RX-8 range on March 2, 2006, combining exclusive red paint with black leather trim.

Japanese launch in 2006

The Mazda RX-8 True Red Style went on sale through Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealers throughout Japan on March 2, 2006. It paired exclusive True Red paint with black leather upholstery in the four-door rotary sports car. This record documents its calendar-year launch, rather than an independently defined model year or a production run confined to 2006. Mazda’s announcement supplies neither an assembly start date nor an end date for the edition. Mazda’s launch announcement.

Two Japanese configurations

Buyers could choose a Type S-based six-speed manual or a Type E-based four-speed Activematic automatic. Black leather cabin details and semi-gloss chrome lamp bezels distinguished the edition. The automatic gained 18-inch wheels, larger front disc brakes and sport-tuned suspension; these were already standard on the manual’s base model. Its significance within the range lies in this combination of appearance and equipment across two existing grades. These launch specifications concern Japan. Equipment and base-model details.

1308 cc RENESIS rotary

The RENESIS engine used two rotors of 654 cc each, giving the 1308 cc displacement used in this catalogue. Mazda’s engineering description identifies natural aspiration, side exhaust ports and a sequential intake system. Engine production began at Ujina in Hiroshima on January 29, 2003. This establishes the engine family’s background; it does not date the start of True Red Style assembly. Mazda’s RENESIS production announcement.

Production context

RX-8 vehicle production began at Mazda’s Ujina No.1 Plant in Hiroshima on February 17, 2003. The four-door, four-seat layout therefore predates this edition. That announcement establishes the model’s manufacturing origins, rather than an edition-specific production schedule or total. Mazda’s RX-8 production announcement.
