Fiat Uno Original European Generation 45 ES
The Uno 45 ES combined the 903 cc engine with equipment intended to reduce fuel consumption.
The Energy Saving derivative
The Fiat Uno 45 ES belonged to the original European Uno generation. ES meant Energy Saving: an economy-focused derivative using the 903 cc engine. Stellantis Heritage places its development against heightened concern about fuel consumption following the 1970s oil crises.
Economy-focused equipment
Equipment included electronic ignition, a cut-off system, an instantaneous fuel-consumption indicator and an upshift warning light. Specially shaped wheel covers addressed aerodynamic efficiency. Together, these features illustrate an approach combining engine controls, aerodynamic details and driver guidance.
Production context and chronology
The Uno launched in January 1983; its Italian manufacturing programme included Mirafiori and Rivalta. This does not establish the assembly plant of every ES example. Stellantis Heritage identifies the June 1985 introduction of the 999 cc FIRE engine as superseding the Energy Saving version’s 903 cc engine.
Exact ES introduction and withdrawal dates by market remain unverified. The parent generation’s 1983–1995 span is not an ES production range; body-style availability and market-specific specifications also require period documentation.
